Friday is coming, ladies and gents, and it’s time to get your weekend plans in order. You might be feeling a little hungover worn out after BostonFest tonight, but we’re not looking for excuses. Whether you plan on geekin’ out over at Comic Con or getting mellow at the Sunset Jazz Festival, we got you covered for the best weekend ever, or something.
Friday
The Funk Summit – 6 to 10 p.m. – City Hall Plaza – Mayor Walsh and the Office of Arts and Culture are hosting another dance party on City Hall Plaza, this time with a funk theme. Join DJ Deano Sounds and DJ Ty Jesso on the plaza to kick off your Friday. Free to attend.
Boston T Party – 7:30 p.m. – Copley Square – Dress up in your favorite MBTA line’s color for this Boston Bike Party, which will embark from Copley Square and end with an after party at Flattop in Cambridge.
Boston Comic Con – August 8-10 – Seaport World Trade Center – Join Boston’s comic book fans and action heroes for the three day convention. Celebrity guests include Sean Astin, James Marsters and more. Get your tickets, your finest cosplay costume, and head out.
2nd Annual Martha’s Vineyard Summer Madness Music Conference and Festival – August 8-10 – Oak Bluffs’ Dreamland – Head to Martha’s Vineyard this weekend for a music conference and festival with the theme “Ladies First,” celebrating the women of soul and funk music. There will be live music from Lauryn Hill and more.
Saturday
Force Factor Autograph Signing with Shawn Thornton – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – GNC – Meet and greet with former Bruins player Shawn Thornton this Saturday at GNC located at 545 Boylston Street, with special deals available on Force Factor products, which are the flagship brand for NutraClick.
From Boat to Boil – 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. – BCAE – Catch and cook your own lobster with BCAE and Lineage. You’ll go from boat to the BCAE kitchen and end up with your own lobster dinner.
Studs and Sleepers: Drafting the Perfect Fantasy Football Team – 3 to 6 p.m. – BCAE – Think it’s too early to think about your Fantasy Football team? Think again. BCAE is hosting a class to teach the ins and outs of perfecting your draft choices with Rich Keefe, host of “The Sports Hubs Fantasy Football Show” on 98.5.
Sunset Jazz Festival – 5 to 9 p.m. – Fairmont Battery Wharf – Live jazz will take over the HarborWalk terrace at Fairmont Battery Wharf partnered with a surf n turf meal. Tickets are $45.
Shake Shack’s MeisterShack Giveaway – August 9-10 – Shake Shack, as a thanks for being named the Best Burger in Boston, is releasing its MeisterShack burger at Boston locations this weekend only. On top of that, the first 100 diners through the door on Saturday and Sunday will receive the burger for free.
Sunday
Wharf Festival – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Long Wharf – Hosted by New England Aquarium and Boston Harbor Islands, and part of Downtown Week, Wharf Festival invites you to come down to Long Wharf free games, activities, food and more.
Hoedown at the Hall – 12 to 4 p.m. – Faneuil Hall – As part of Summer on the Waterfront’s Downtown Week, Faneuil Hall is hosting a hoedown this Sunday complete with live entertainment and line dancing lessons, cornhole and a petting zoo.
Eat Like a Shark Week – August 10-17 – Rooftop at Revere – Shark Week begins this Sunday, and in honor of the festivities, the Rooftop at Revere Hotel is featuring a special seafood filled “Eat Like a Shark Week” menu. Head there for mahi mahi tacos, salmon rolls, and shark themed cocktails.
