Fort Point dwellers and patrons rejoiced today over news of The Ginger Man’s possible opening in Boston’s Seaport District. The Boston Herald reported that the popular Texas-based tavern (also located in New York City’s Murray Hill area) is currently “attempting to land a liquor license for a 6,000-square-foot location at 374 Congress St.”

This is the second time that The Ginger Man has tried to secure a location in Fort Point – the first attempt was in 2012. It’s reported by The Boston Herald that this time, “Bob Precious, owner of The Ginger Man… wants to move into a 6,000-square-foot space at the back of 374 Congress St., which opens onto Boston Wharf Road.” And they have a signed lease to prove it.

But we’ll have to wait and see if the company’s liquor license request is approved by The Boston Licensing Board, which according to The Boston Herald, “will consider the company’s request for a liquor license transfer and 2 a.m. closing next week.

The fact that The Ginger Man offers over seventy taps dispensing fresh ales and lagers – and 160 different kinds of bottled beer – should, alone, be enough to excite both casual beer drinkers and enthusiasts, alike.

And it’s reported that the Boston location would have a bigger space and thus, a bigger kitchen to serve up a bigger food menu than the New York location. The Ginger Man will (hopefully) be serving a “farm-to-table” style menu, according to The Boston Herald.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens but for now, we’re plenty hoppy about The Ginger Man’s prospects in Boston.
