This past fall, we received news that a future “craft cocktail speakeasy” named Blind Tiger, would be opening up in Boston’s South End very soon. Well, it looks as though the location has had a bit of a name change in the last few days. The upcoming speakeasy will now “actually be called “Wink & Nod,” reports Eater Boston.
Apparently, Blind Tiger’s Facebook and Twitter pages “mysteriously disappeared from the internet, but a new Twitter account appeared” on Saturday for a speakeasy “at the same address,” Eater Boston reports, with the new name – Wink & Nod.

The restaurant is a Boston Nightlife Venture project, which by all accounts seems set to open early in 2014. The new craft cocktail speakeasy will open at 3 Appleton Street, where the former Latin American restaurant, Noche, used to be.
Eater Boston also reports that The Boston Nightlife Venture president Euz Azevedo, stated that “Blind Tiger was a ‘project name…not the final name,’ and the team received feedback that it sounded like the name of an Asian restaurant.”
The new name “Wink & Nod” is apparently a better fit for the speakeasy’s branding. And according to Eater Boston, Azevedo stated that the South End spot would feature “a serious craft cocktail program with a dinner menu that can be paired well with the inspired drinks and are encouraged to be shared,” as well as having an ambiance that will be “mysterious yet enticing.”
I can’t lie – I’m enticed. And for those of you living in the South End, it looks like you’ll soon have yet another reason to love where you live.
