Sadly enough, going out can get a little old. You round up the same friends, head to the same places, and order the same drinks – and voila, you realize you might be in a rut. Luckily for you, bars exist in Boston where you can combine drinking with games (and I don’t just mean Big Buck Hunter or darts) for a night of entertainment that doesn’t have to involve busting a move on the dance floor or busting out a tune over the karaoke speaker.

So are you in? Check out the list below.

Area Four in Kendall Square has something that’s not always easy to find in Boston – a yard. Graciously, they’re putting the green space to use. In addition to a sunny patio and summery specials like banana-pepper relish hot dogs and rosé, you’ll find a stash of lawn games to partake in while you lounge outside. A4 will provide you with the materials for frisbee, bocce ball, croquet, lawn darts, football, and soccer – you just have to bring your competitive spirit.

The Place in Faneuil Hall, starting today, will be running a weekly Wednesday Night Games Competition, complete with prizes and half-off appetizers from 6 to 8 p.m. The night will consist of classic trivia followed by a video games competition from 8 to 11 p.m. Finally, a chance to get the recognition you deserve (and to get out of your apartment) for your hard-earned gamer skills in FIFA 13, Call of Duty, and NHL 13.

Beacon Hill Pub is your classic dive bar, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t attract weekend-night crowds. Stop in on a quiet weekday to try your hand at the basketball shootout hoops, skee ball, foosball and more. The drinks are just cheap enough to keep them flowing as your hand-eye coordination gets increasingly worse, and your competitive spirit gets increasingly rowdy.

Cornwall’s in Kenmore Square boasts a broad collection of board games for you and your friends to bust out on a low-key evening out. There’s something about game night at a British pub that trumps game night in your parents’ living room. It might be the extensive beer list. But say it’s a Saturday afternoon and you’re not ready to start pregaming – Diesel Cafe in Somerville also has free-to-play board games that you can pair with lattes instead of pints. Yahtzee!
