Here in Boston, we love our coffee shops. And now, it seems yet another addition is on its way.

The Boston Globe reports that the Japanese-based coffee shop, Ogawa Coffee, is planning to make its US debut in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood next year. Rejoice!

The world renowned coffee house is known for its “thick coffee, intricate glassware and latte art,” which the article notes “will blow your mind.” We trust that it will, given that the 2010 World Latte Art champion, Haruna Murayama, is apparently planning to “oversee the cafe’s coffee menu,” reports the article.

The coffee cups and glassware will be Hario, a Japanese glass coffeeware brand, which the Boston Globe also mentions is carried by Williams-Sonoma.

For those unfamiliar with Ogawa Coffee, the Japanese coffee shop was established more than 50 years ago in Kyoto and now has over 40 locations in Japan. The East Asian country is known for their love of strong (read: potent) coffee and happens to be one of the world’s largest coffee-consuming countries – in addition to the US and Germany, notes the article.

With the upcoming launch of Ogawa Coffee in Boston – and the recent expansion of the South Korean coffee chain, Caffebene, to Boston – it’s becoming apparent that our city is destined to be an international coffee hot spot.

The Boston Globe notes that Ogawa Coffee will be located at 10 Milk St. in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood and will open next spring.
