Good news for Boston Common Coffee lovers! The popular North End-based independent coffee company plans to open a fourth location at 101 Canal St. next month. According to a release, the cafe and bakery will occupy 2,500 sq ft and will be the anchor retail tenant at The Avenir, a luxury condo building.

Currently, the coffee company has locations on Salem St. in the North End (my go-to), Washington St. in Downtown Crossing and on High St. in the Financial District.

Those of you who haven’t yet ventured into one of the cafe’s 3 locations should make a point to do so. The Friends-like coffee shop offers plush seating and lounge areas, wi-fi, tables and an overall great environment in which to work and/or study.

The local coffee shop also offers up a wide selection of house-made blended coffee, sweets, sandwiches and salads. Founded in 2004 by Peter Femino and Anthony Massari, Boston Common Coffee was based on a “simple concept of bringing together the atmosphere of a local coffee house with the freshness and variety of a bakery,” states Massari in the release.

Now, ten years later, the coffee shop seems to have successfully struck a chord with Boston consumers. Massari adds in the release that ”The Canal Street space is a perfect next step for our expansion and offers immense opportunity to introduce our brand to the many business commuters coming from North Station.”

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more about the opening date of this Boston Common Coffee location.
