Fashion ‘month’ has come and gone, with the runways all wrapped up in New York, Milan, London and Paris. But here in Boston, Fashion Week is just gearing up. This year, Boston Fashion Week will take place from October 5 through 11, and after the all-encompassing tent was abolished in 2013, shows are spread throughout the city, taking over hotels and event spaces all week long.

The Boston Fashion Week schedule has been posted on the event’s website, but there’s a lot to sift through. While each evening is full of talented up and coming designers, we decided to pull out the ones we think are the most up and coming in Boston that you should be keeping your eye on. Whether they’re incorporating cutting edge technology into fashion design, or gaining national attention, here are the designers to look out for this Boston Fashion Week.

Denise Hajjar

Designer Denise Hajjar has become a regular at Boston Fashion Week, but her mark on the city’s event series has been made all the more impactful, as for the past six years, she’s partnered with Dress for Success Boston, an organization that promotes success for underprivileged women by providing them with professional attire. Hajjar’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection will be modeled by powerful women in Boston like Yolanda Cellucci and Janet Wu, and for guests, the items will be available for purchase after the show.

Event Details: Powerful Women Empowering Women; Tuesday, October 7, 7-10 p.m. at Royale. Tickets are on sale now starting at $35.

Daniel Hernandez

Each year, Daniel Hernandez boasts one of the most dynamic runway shows of Boston Fashion Week. Incorporating multimedia as a complement to his fashion designs, guests can expect an entertaining evening. This year, Hernandez has also recruited local accessory designers to open and supplement the show. Jewelry from Tracy Belben of T*Racy, hats by Marie Galvin of Galvin-ized Headwear, belts by Keep Your Pants On, and handbags by Susu Accessories will all be featured during the show.

Event Details: DH RTW Collection 2014-15; Tuesday, October 7, 7 p.m. at Venu. Tickets are on sale now starting at $45.

Ministry of Supply

Not an independent designer, but Boston menswear company Ministry of Supply deserves your attention this Fashion Week. Sure, other cities across the globe may be more fashionable than Boston, but we’ve got technology on our side. Ministry of Supply looks to prove that at their BFW event, which looks at the company’s ideation and creation of high-tech fashion, hosted by founders Gihan Amarasiriwardena, Kit Hickey and Aman Advani.

Event Details: Science of Style: Designing Fashion with Tech Elements; Wednesday, October 8, 6-8 p.m. at Ministry of Supply H1. Free to attend, RSVP required.

Carla Fernández

Isabella Stewart Gardner’s artist-in-residence Carla Fernández will be featured during Boston Fashion Week, showcasing Mexican fashion and culture. Her exhibit at the museum, Carla Fernández: The Barefoot Designer: A Passion for Radical Design and Community, will be outfitted by a runway show highlighting her intricate designs. The event will be followed by an after party with live music in the Courtyard.

Event Details: Boston Fashion Week Event: Carla Fernández Spring/Summer 2015 Collection; Thursday, October 9, 6:30 p.m. at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Tickets are on sale now for $35.

Jonathan Joseph Peters

Project Runway Season 7 contestant Jonathan Joseph Peters is making his solo debut at Boston Fashion Week with his dark and elegant collection of evening, day and special occasion wear. Balancing on the line between ready-to-wear and avant-garde, Peters’s collections have been featured in past events such as New York Fashion Week and StyleWeek Providence.
