The Fort Point neighborhood is Boston’s artist epicenter. The dense, creative cluster nestled along the side of the channel is chock full of imaginative minds. On Friday, October 17, and lasting through Sunday, October 19, over 150 of these innovators will open the doors of their studios for everyone to enjoy their work.

The 35th Fort Point Open Studios festival celebrates three and a half decades of studio owners putting their works out on full display. It also signifies just how entrenched the Fort Point neighborhood is in the arts and how important it is to promote that fact.

“Explore the historic waterfront warehouses that are home to painters, sculptors, ceramicists, jewelers, performance artists, printmakers, book artists, photographers, and more,” suggests the Fort Point Arts Community, Inc. “Meet local artists and craftspeople, and get a behind the scenes look at where Boston artists create their work. Find established artists, and discover new emerging talents. Stroll, ponder, and browse. Buy original art from the people who make it.”

Galleries in 14 Fort Point buildings will be open for exploration as well as various pop-up galleries throughout the neighborhood. Arts and crafts activities will be available for people of all ages in multiple locations, as will performances and demonstrations from the more nimble bodied.

For those who think trekking over to South Boston is too much of a hike, rest assured. Not only is Gillette/P&G offering free parking at the lot by A Street and Binford Street, but as per Mayor Walsh’s newly established Department of Arts & Culture, a free shuttle bus will be available to cart people around the community.
