Defined by innovation and an undercurrent of rich history, from our leading companies and cutting edge startups to our government and top tier colleges, Boston inspires. This photo series aims to capture it. Enjoy!

The glistening, glassy Exchange Place pictured here is one of the most modern skyscrapers in Boston. The forty floor building was constructed in 1985, built to rise out of the historic twelve story Boston Stock Exchange which was built in 1896. Founded in 1834, the Boston Stock Exchange was our regions stock exchange and is in fact the third oldest in the United States. It was purchased by NASDAQ in 2007 for $61 million. You can see where the old and new of Exchange Place intersect in this photo beautifully. Exchange Place is the 12th tallest building in Boston, standing 510 feet high. This photo, taken by Bob Ferguson from his hotel room across the way, also captures the old Massachusetts State House from above, revealing some stunning details on its tower that go unnoticed from street level.
