It seems like the world beyond Boston is intent on enjoying the warm weather that we’ve been having.

Boston made National Geographic’s list of Best Spring Trips 2014, and as the city sprung to life this past weekend, duck boats and all, it’s easy to see why.

The post tells vacationers they should come to the Hub on Patriot’s Day Weekend to enjoy the festivities that have become synonymous with Boston’s transition from winter to spring including the marathon, a Sox game, and a ride on the Boston Garden Swan boats.

Some of the suggested activities seem like a good time for all, not just tourists. The post instructs visitors to seek out the plentiful and delicious food truck offerings that are available now that the weather is warming up, and to head to the SoWa arts and media district in the South End on Sundays for craft items and vintage finds.

Looking for some reads to really get you in the Bostonian spirit? The post even includes reading suggestions for books that take place in and around Boston.

The itinerary also includes a suggested stay at the Liberty Hotel. While we’re all lucky to call Boston home and won’t be needing a hotel room, the hotel’s bar (and the converted prison’s former drunk tank) Alibi is offering up some tempting warmer-weather cocktails that even us locals should stop by for. The current cocktail menu includes the Cool Hand Cuke featuring vodka, muddled mint, cucumbers and pineapple, and the Single White Female featuring peach vodka, white grape juice, peychaud bitters and prosecco.

Nods like this are a reminder that we should use the warm weather as an excuse to become a tourist in our own city – it’s certainly a destination!
