In case you missed it: Boston is the setting of yet another reality television show. One, which will leave all of you stumped. Let me introduce you to National Geographic’s newest reality series, Big Bad Wood. Yes, not only does the show’s name make us feel uncomfortable, but so does the subject matter.

According to the Boston Herald, the show will follow “four local tree-trimming companies (Tree Tech, Specialized Rigging and Tree Care, American Climbers and All Season Tree Service)” as they go about their day-to-day work.

That’s right, we get to watch these tree fellers take on the dangers and stresses that this high-climbing job entails. Being a National Geographic show, however, the content is sure to be a bit more serious than previous Boston reality TV shows like Southie Rules, Wicked Single, or ABC’s The Vineyard. Just thinking about those makes my head hurt.

The show should have some funny moments (at the tree trimmers expense, of course). The Boston Herald reports that “the show is not always an endorsement for their best work.” Yikes. Apparently the reality series will reveal drunk employees, brawling tree fellers and a company owner who claims, “my guys are a lot like family. I love ’em, but sometimes I really want to kill ’em.” I have to admit, I’m intrigued.

And I suppose this TV show is only further evidence that people outside of Boston clearly find us interesting, am I right? I’m just not so sure that’s necessarily a compliment for Boston residents. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how Big Bad Wood fares. The show will be premiering tonight at 9 on National Geographic. Here’s a promo below.
