While Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has been touting his ideas for reformation in Boston when it comes to development, transportation, and affordable living, he’s also made it a point to reinforce the significance of arts and culture. In that respect, he’s teaming up with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to host a workshop on how to learn photography.

And it’s free.

People of all ages are welcome to participate, though keep in mind those interested must supply their own cameras, and sessions will be held on select Sundays beginning January 26 through March. As part of the ParkARTS program sponsored by Bank of America, according to a notice from the Mayor’s office, “Participants will learn techniques for taking impressive photographs of Boston’s scenic parks as well as be given a theme to focus on each Sunday.”

While the sessions are free, registration is required and can be done via email by contacting Lauren.patrick@boston.gov.

The winter photography sessions will be held as follows:

January 26:

Jamaica Pond Boathouse, Jamaica Plain

February 9:

Christopher Columbus statue, Christopher Columbus Park, North End

February 23:

Grampian Way basketball court, Savin Hill Park, Dorchester

March 9:

Millennium Park canoe launch, West Roxbury

March 23:

Lagoon Bridge, Boston Public Garden
