On Monday, Mayor-elect Marty Walsh will dive into detail about the collection of community service events he and his inaugural committee will host on the days leading up to the swearing in ceremony. Walsh is slated to officially assume the office of Mayor of Boston on January 6, 2014.

Earlier this month the Walsh camp released preliminary details for how he plans on ringing in his new municipal position but Monday he will be joined by representatives from Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) and the Greater Boston Food Bank in his native Dorchester make these details clearer.

ABCD President & CEO John J. Drew and Vice President of External Affairs and Advancement, Greater Boston Food Bank Suzanne Battit will descend upon Walsh’s Mt. Vernon Street office at 2:45 p.m. to discuss their ideas for community service, youth education, and a brunch for seniors at Northeastern University.

What we know thus far is that on Friday, January 3, volunteers from Walsh’s transition and inauguration committee will hit the streets to lead a variety of community service initiatives including, but not limited to, painting school buildings, serving meals to the Boston homeless, cleaning up parks and other public locations, and more. Anyone can sign up online to help, and all are encouraged to and welcome.

Following on Saturday, the Mayor-elect will play host to sixth through ninth graders at a Youth Summit at Roxbury Community College. There Boston’s future generations will be afforded the opportunity to share their wide-eyed hopes and dreams for the future of their city.

And finally, on Sunday, January 5, Walsh will take to Northeastern University’s Cabot Athletic Center to enjoy brunch with seniors before heading to the picturesque Old South Church for an interfaith service with Reverend Jeffrey Brown, a staunch Walsh endorser who Founded the Ten Point Coalition, a community organization responsible for the so-called Boston Miracle in which crime in The Hub decreased steeply in the years following the conception of the Coalition.
