Brian Golden, who was appointed interim director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority in January 2014, has a permanent job title.

Mayor Marty Walsh named Golden the permanent director of the BRA Wednesday morning, according to a tweet from the redevelopment authority.

Golden replaced former BRA director Peter Meade, who resigned from his post as Mayor Walsh was sworn into office. Before his nearly year-long tenure as interim director, Golden, a former representative of Allston-Brighton, served as executive director and secretary of the BRA. He was named to that position in 2009.

A former Army lawyer, Golden brought with him to the BRA a wealth of political experience, having been tapped in 2005 Massachusetts Energy Commissioner by then-Governor Mitt Romney. Later, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to the role of New England Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Golden owns a home Newton.
