John Pepper, Founder of Boloco

The Boston Globe is reporting that John Pepper is back on top at Boloco. The founder of the Boston-based burrito chain, who left the company back in 2013, has apparently bought it back. Boston Restaurant Talk also notes (per a Twitter post from @BostonTweet) that “John Pepper has completed the re-purchase of Boloco from its private equity investors.”

The Globe reports that Pepper has “no immediate plans for changes to the restaurants’ format,” – despite the fact that Boloco was forced to close two of its Washington, DC  outposts this year. Currently, Boloco has 22 locations throughout New England.

After leaving Boloco in 2013, Pepper spent his time as an Uber driver and worked on developing a food-service HR app.

We’ll be sure to bring you more information on Pepper’s return to Boloco when we know more.
