When it comes to events, festivals and parties – Boston is on the move. Even in the deep dark depths of winter, we still manage to get off our bums and get moving. Whether it’s an outdoor festival or a marathon, there’s always something happening in the Hub. And now, we can prove it.

A new study conducted by Eventbrite identified the cities in America where “residents lead active lives,” according to Mashable. Eventbrite called the study the “Carpe Diem Project,” a “data driven exploration into the ‘Carpe Diem’ mindset, places and trends,” as defined by Eventbrite.

The site looked at how people were making the most of their lives in the cities they live in. Looking at event trends and third party data, Eventbrite determined “where people in the country are living ‘Carpe Diem’ lifestyles.”

So, how did U.S. big cities fare? Well for starters, Boston beat out both New York City and Los Angeles in Carpe Diem lifestyles. Our city ranked number 8 for having the most active residents. Atlanta came in at number one followed by Washington, D.C. at number two. For the complete list, check here.

Also of note, Eventbrite surveyed over 2000 U.S. event goers to “better understand the Carpe Diem mindset” and learned that many people who felt they lived life to fullest also happened to go out two to three times a week. Woof!

With our busy schedules that sure seems like a lot of happy hours and after-work events to me. But clearly, Boston’s energized residents are both ambitious and full of life. Carpe Diem, everyone!
