When it comes to our city’s food and restaurant scene, I think we can all agree that Boston is certainly on the up-and-up. We may be a small city compared to New York City or Los Angeles, but our dining scene is downright fierce. There’s no shortage of new places to try and first-class cuisine to be had in this town.

Fortunately, our city’s dining scene has already received the attention and honors it deserves. With Boston’s own chef and restaurateur, Barbara Lynch, winning the recent James Beard Foundation Award for “Outstanding Restaurateur,” it should come as no surprise that the Hub also happens to be a foodie paradise.

But don’t take it from me. Take it from Conde Nast Traveler’s latest Readers’ Choice Survey. The survey asked their readers to vote and rate the U.S. cities that have the best restaurants, and our own city of Boston came in as the tenth best American city for foodies (cue the bells and whistles!).

Conde Nast Traveler reports that Boston received a Readers’ Choice rating of 83.1. “While history may associate Boston dining with such old-school (and often bland) dishes as brown bread, baked beans, and clam chowder, there’s been a changing of the guards in recent years,” reports Conde Nast Traveler.

The article lists foodie-loving eateries such as the recently opened Merrill & Co. in the South End and Harvard Square’s popular new gastropub Alden & Harlow, as well as Downtown Crossing’s brasserie, The Merchant.

It’s true – our city’s culinary landscape has certainly been growing, changing and expanding immensely the past few years. Current Boston foodie hotspots include Brookline’s Washington Square, the revamped South End dining scene and even Downtown Boston’s latest bar and restaurant additions.
