The iconic Rosebud Diner, which closed last year after 70 plus years, reopens as Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar today, September 15 under new ownership. Joe Cassinelli owner of Somerville’s Posto and Painted Burro restaurants is responsible for revamping the beloved Rosebud Diner, which happens to be a Boston institution and is even included in the National Register of Historical Places.

Cassinelli explains in a release:

“Keeping the former Rosebud Diner’s storied past in mind, we’ve lovingly refreshed the dining car façade while bringing an entirely different concept, menu and scene to the Square.”

The newly opened Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar will serve up a Pan-American menu created by chef and partner, John Delpha. The menu will feature categories like “Share or Don’t” items, “Between the Sheets” sandwiches and plates of “Tasty Fried Goodness.” There will be plenty of barbecue, in-house smoking and pickling programs as well, according to a release.

The revamped Rosebud will also feature 18 brews on draft, barrel-aged cocktails and “throwback” canned beers.

If you go, Rosebud is now open for dinner Monday through Sunday. Lunch and weekend brunch will be coming soon. Rosebud is located at 381 Summer Street in Somerville.
