Earlier this spring, we reported that the beloved Central Square restaurant, Rendezvous, would be shutting its doors for good this year, making way for new owners and a new concept.

Chef Steve Johnson, who owned the Rendezvous space for nine years, sold the Central Square fixture to restaurateurs (and alums of Green Street) Greg Reeves and Mark Young. And now, according to Eater Boston, it looks as though the new owners are on the brink of opening their Mediterranean restaurant, dubbed Viale, this week.

The article notes that the restaurant will open to the public this Wednesday, October 15 – and that the new owners “haven’t changed too much at the former Rendezvous space.” The new concept will be “more of a facelift,” apparently. The Central Square restaurant is described on their Facebook page as “inspired by Mediterranean flavors, Viale serves ingredient-driven cuisine in a casual environment.” Besides Green Street, Chef Greg Reeves has also worked at UpStairs on the Square, The Butcher Shop, B&G Oysters, among other notable spots around town.

If you go, Viale is located at 502 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge’s Central Square neighborhood.
