It seems everywhere you look there’s a new restaurant popping up in the hub. And it should come as no surprise considering our food is some of the best in the world (hey, we love to eat). Travel anywhere in the U.S. and beyond, and you’re sure to see New England fare abound and replicated in numerous restaurants. It seems everyone (including ourselves) just can’t get enough of our lobsters, clam chowder and more.

Last week we brought you our picks for the ten restaurants in Boston that are “all the rage.” And now, we’re bringing you even more foodie news. Urbanspoon, a restaurant discovery and review site, released today its Top New Restaurants of 2013, which ranked the best new restaurants in each region. According to a press release, the rankings highlighted “the most viewed, reviewed and liked restaurants to open their doors this year.”

The overall data showed that “taverns and laid-back barbeque joints gained in popularity” (no surprise there), while fine dining and high-end establishments were less frequented. More than 70 percent of the reviewers ate at restaurants in the $15-and-under price range.

So how did Boston’s newest restaurants fare on Urbanspoon’s Top New Restaurants list? Pretty well. We’ve listed the 5 best new reviewed restaurants in the region (below). Although, we’re fairly certain that Highland Kitchen, which opened in 2007, isn’t “new” and may have been an oversight or recently added to the Urbanspoon site. Regardless, it’s delicious (and timeless) so we won’t argue too much with this error.
