What’s to become of the now shuttered 1-800-Flowers space in the North End? This question, which crosses my mind everytime I’m in the North End, may finally have answer. According to NorthEndWaterfront.com, the former flower shop space, situated on the corner of Hanover St. and Fleet St., may soon be returning to its roots.

Circle Pizza, which closed back in 2000, could reopen in its former Hanover St. address. NorthEndWaterfront.com reports that “the pizzeria is being proposed by Joe Bono (Al Dente and Benevento’s) and Warren Mustacchio through Nedia Trust.” And may have around 40 seats. The applicants are also looking to “acquire a beer, wine & cordials license under the condition that alcohol only be served with food.”

The article also posted a video of the complete presentation and NEWNC vote, which you can see here. It’s also noted that the “reincarnation” of the famous pizzeria did receive “unanimous support from neighborhood council.”

And while I too am excited for the iconic pizzeria’s reincarnation, we should note that Circle Pizza may find a bit more competition upon its return. Several new pizza restaurants have opened in the neighborhood since 2000 including next door neighbors, Quattro and Locale.

However, one thing’s for sure – Circle Pizza’s reopening will certainly bring the location full circle. As of right now, we don’t have any other details on the possible reopening but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
