Rejoice! The long-awaited Legal Oysteria, a new Legal Sea Foods offshoot, will open tomorrow in Charlestown. An official source tells us that the restaurant’s menu, developed by Executive Chef Rich Vellante, will consist of coastal Italian-style seafood “inspired by the food he cooks at home for friends and family.”

Diners can expect to see Charred Octopus, Crispy Eggplant Caponata Dip, Roasted Clam Pizza, Grilled Stuffed Trout, Steak Pizzaiolo, Whole Roasted Fish and Sausages Stuffed with Truffle Cheese on the menu. In addition, there will also be a variety of “Small Plates,” priced between $3 and $5 – these include Salt Cod Crostini, Ricotta Fritters and a trio of Oyster preparations. Sounds divine!

And according to a release, the bar program was designed to complement Legal Oysteria’s cuisine. The Mediterranean wine list will focus on Italian and Spanish vinos with 32 wines by the glass, five by the half-bottle and four tasting flights available. The bar menu will also include six signature drinks, including Prosecco Cocktail served with a traditional spritz with prosecco, Aperol, Aperitivo Rosa, citrus, and soda; Amaro Mule served with Nonino Amaro, fresh lime, and ginger beer; Mr. Wonderful served with rye, amaro, and citrus oil – among others. There will also be eight draught beers.

A release notes that the 4,400 square foot space was “inspired by a traditional ‘osteria’ and aspires to provide a casual, comfortable and accessible environment.” If you’re unfamiliar with the term, an “osteria” is defined in the dictionary as “an Italian restaurant, typically a simple or inexpensive one.”

The restaurant will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, “an expansive island bar seating 30 with a white marble top,” and an open kitchen with a brick oven. The dining room will seat 139 people and there will also be a private dining space for parties up to 35.

Legal Oysteria will be President & CEO Roger Berkowitz’s sixth brand in the Legal Sea Foods restaurant family, which includes Legal Sea Foods, LTK Kitchen & Bar, Legal C Bar, Legal Harborside, and Legal Crossing.

For those interested in checking out this new Italian seafood restaurant, Legal Oysteria will open daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., with dinner until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Legal Oysteria is located at 10 City Square in Charlestown.
