The MBTA has elected to cancel all of its Sunday service in advance of a major winter storm that is expected to arrive in Boston Saturday night, bringing with it potential blizzard conditions. No subway, bus, ferry or trolleys will be in operation.

The T’s announcement regarding the suspension of its Sunday service came only a couple hours after the agency chose to preemptively axe Saturday late-night subway and bus service, which would have provided trips until 3 a.m.

Friday morning, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said, if the T was unable to provide service due to the snow storm, it would “pose incredible hardship” on the city.
