Last night Technology Underwriting Greater Good (TUGG) hosted their 5th annual New England Venture Charity Wine Party. The event was held at Artists for Humanity’s very cool, two-level event and exhibition space in South Boston. The space was packed with the Boston venture community including VCs, entrepreneurs, PR teams, and many in the non-profit space alike.

TUGG, with its mission of catalyzing and spreading social entrepreneurship in New England through “open source philanthropy,” funds more than a dozen organizations and initiatives each year in the Bay State. Last night’s event is their flagship fundraiser, where community attendees voted for a current TUGG organization to receive $10,000 and a new organization to receive $20,000. BostInnovation’s founder Chase Garbarino announced the winners — More Than Words (current TUGG charity) and Generation Citizen (new TUGG charity). Science Club for Girls was also awarded $5,000 last night.

More than Words

“More Than Words (MTW) is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business.”

Generation Citizen

“Generation Citizen’s mission is to expand democratic participation among youth populations that have been historically under-represented or actively excluded from the political process.”

Science Club for Girls

“Our mission is to increase the self-confidence and literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) of K-12th grade girls belonging to groups that are underrepresented in these fields, through free programs that include hands-on learning, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.”

Thank you to TUGG and its many sponsors for a great night  including tons of wine raffle giveaways, drinks from Entourage’s coveted Avion tequila, a phenomenal food spread and a great crowd. Check out some photos from the event below:
