After telling you how snowy and cold it’s going to be for what seems like forever, we’ve finally got some brighter news. Temperatures could surpass 50 degrees on Tuesday, providing Greater Boston residents with a slight reprieve from the bitterness of winter.

The National Weather Service is predicting that high temperatures on Wednesday, March 11, could reach 52 degrees with patchy fog in the morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. After that, it should be partly sunny for the rest of the day.

Temps in the 50s sound tropical after the brutal winter we’ve suffered through. Though little transpired in terms of snow between December and early-to-mid January, between January 26 and nearly all of February there was a deluge of snowfall totaling more than 100 inches.

In fact, Boston is barely two inches of snow away from recording the snowiest winter in the city’s history. The record is 107.9 inches and Boston is currently sitting at 105.7 inches.

After Wednesday the temperatures are likely to dip back to the 40s and 30s with a chance of rain and snow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, though it doesn’t appear the precipitation will be heavy enough to accumulate.
