At precisely 7:18 a.m. Monday morning, WBZ’s Danielle Niles decided to tweet about the Boston weather. Needless to say, the forecast looks interesting: Cold front’s moving in, bringing with it gusty winds that could potentially drop temperatures well below zero, unable to sustain human life.

Here’s the deal. Wind chills of 20 or so degrees below zero in Boston, and across the state, aren’t expected until Thursday morning. But a current look at the week’s forecast suggests Monday night through Wednesday night will offer an extended preview of what’s shaping up to be the coldest day of Winter 2014-15.

A wind advisory remains in effect for all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut until 7 p.m. on Monday night. Speeds of 25-35 mph with higher localized gusts, capable of downing small trees and knocking out power, are possible. A high gust of 49 mph and a sustained wind speed of 37 mph were recorded earlier in the morning at Logan Airport, in East Boston, according to the National Weather Service.

Temps will fall into the mid-teens Monday night and throughout the overnight hours.

Tuesday daytime: Don’t expect to see any sun. Clouds will sit in above us, threatening (but not guaranteeing) to produce snow. But any snowfall is projected to accumulate less than an inch. Tuesday highs will struggle to get above the low-20s with lows again in the mid-teens.

The sun will be on the clock for most, if not all, of Wednesday. Highs could – and this is me, a professional weather scientist, looking at the glass half-full side of things – flirt with upper-20s or lower-30s. With winds possibly gusting upwards of 20-30 mph, lets not celebrate too much, though. A natural low at or below zero expected Wednesday night could, ultimately, when winds are blowing at their fiercest speeds, make it feel like its negative -25 degrees outside Thursday morning. For context: The historic Boston low for the month of January, recorded in 1946, is -30; the record low for Jan. 8 (Thursday) is -6, set in 1878, though there’s obviously a difference in a windchill and actual temperature.

But hey! bright blue – clear – skies and temperatures settling in the high-teens should make things better. Also: still windy.

Another batch of clouds has plans to move into Boston by Thursday night, which would mean another chance of snow. The current forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of the white stuff after midnight and through Freedom Friday morning. But come Freedom Friday afternoon, look for skies to clear up and the warm front following in its footsteps to produce a high of 32. Snowfall totals aren’t expected to be anything more than an inch or so.

Now, ladies and gentlemen: Sam Smith. Because Sam Smith, though seemingly an emotional wreck, has a voice that makes Idina Menzel weep with tears of jealously.

Speaking of Idina Menzel – her version of “Let It Go” ranks below a) even just the mere thought of a Sam Smith version and b) comedian Christina Bianco’s legend-status performance.

Well…
