The remnants of Winter Storm Nika still litter the streets and sidewalks of Boston to the chagrin of pedestrians and commuters throughout the Greater Metro Area. But Boston and much of the Massachusetts coastline is in for some more fresh powder beginning Sunday night and lasting through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, “one to two inches of snow is expected across the region… There is a low probability of three inch amounts along portions of the Eastern Massachusetts Coast.”

Though one to three inches pales in comparison to the approximately 10 that Nika unloaded on The Hub last week, conditions won’t be favorable for trekking back to work Monday morning and the light coating in tandem with frigid temperatures bodes for icy roadways, so travel with extreme caution.

Be prepared, however, for more wet wintry weather later in the week. As of now there’s a 50 percent chance of rain and snow for Thursday and even a slight chance of snow just prior on Wednesday night. Accumulation totals for those dates, however, aren’t expected to register as anything significant.
