At Comic Con 2013, the cast of Breaking Bad took the stage to discuss the series finale of the popular show by AMC. Since last year, the mantra “All Bad Things Must Come to an End” has held the meth-dealing series’ fans on bated breath as they wait for the conclusion of one of the most critically acclaimed television dramas of all time.

Walking in with a Walter White mask, Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston was the center of attention to reflect on the show’s celebrated five-season run and screen some never-before-seen new footage. Most interestingly, though, when asked whether the antihero chemistry teacher-turned-meth lord had the evil inside him from the very beginning, Cranston noted:

“Under the right circumstances – need, greed, whatever the case may be, depression — you push those buttons at the right time and anyone can become dangerous. And that’s what happened to Walter White: Those buttons were all pushed at one time, and he was in a dire situation. So he did go from Mr. Chips to Scarface… A lot of different people have their opinions on when that turn was, but to me, really it was that first episode when he decided to try to become someone he wasn’t. And that was it. He was on a slippery slope and sold his soul.”

The final eight episodes–the first eight of which aired last season–are set to be broadcasted on August 11. Producer Paul Gilligan, without giving too much away as a spoiler, did note “I am satisfied by the ending. I hope you will be, too. My writers and I, and everyone in front of the lens and behind it I think is feeling pretty good about it,” which is good enough for Breaking Bad fans everywhere, I’m Sure.
