Cambridge, Mass. based Brightcove, the leading online video platform, announced today that is has hired Christopher Menard as the company’s new CFO.

Brightcove helps clients like Showtime, The New York Times, and Sony with online video platforms — the company helps manage, monetize, and distribute online video while analyzing traffic and customizing players for customers.

Menard comes to Brightcove after more than nine years at Phase Forward, a leading provider of integrated data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety. While at Phase Forward Menard held numerous financial roles, most recently as CFO. Specifically, he played integral roles in the company’s 6 major acquisitions and successful execution of the IPO. Menard also currently teaches an M&A class at Boston College’s Carroll School of management.

Brightcove has raised well over $100 million since its founding in 2004 from firms including General Catalyst Partners, Accel Partners, and AOL Inc., among others. It has also reportedly denied Google from an apparent buyout back in 2009 – for around $500 million -$700 million.

Citing sources close to the company, Reuters and Techcrunch are reporting that a Brighcove’s IPO is planned for the first half of next year.
