In my opinion, there are a few must-eat summertime staples that absolutely everyone must get their hands on before the season’s over. These include BBQ, lobster rolls and of course, hot dogs. Unless you’re a vegetarian, chances are you’ve had your fill of the oh-so-tasty, Americana snack – and hopefully, have experienced more than one type of “dog”.

While a traditional Fenway Frank is always delish, diners can now easily find hot dogs with any and every topping imaginable. These unexpected garnishes and non-white bread buns mean that chefs all over are officially stepping up their hot dog game – even here in Boston.

One Boston area restaurant’s hot dog, in particular, has even gained national attention. According to Travel + Leisure magazine, Somerville restaurant, Bronwyn, has one of “America’s Best Hot Dogs.” And given the German restaurant’s popular and always creative menu, this accolade shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The article states, “Tim Wiechmann recently introduced the smoky “Brondog,” covered with melted Emmentaler cheese and vinegary sauerbraten on a poppy-seed potato bun.” It’s certainly hot dog innovation at its finest.

And if it doesn’t make your mouth water, then we don’t know what will. So if you’re looking for a twist on the all-American dish this summer, we recommend trying the Brondog. From the looks of it, it won’t disappoint.
