When I first heard of Met Back Bay’s “Crafty Bloody Mary Bar,” I admit that I was slightly intimidated. Expecting a self-serve station where undoubtedly I would choose the wrong garnishes followed by way too much hot sauce – and ultimately end up with an undrinkable bloody mess. It all seemed so stressful.

Much to my relief – it turns out that Met Back Bay does all of the Bloody Mary work for you. All you have to do is choose from a list of spirits, garnishes and wide range of delicious accompaniments (mini cheeseburger, oysters, clams, etc) – and then the Bloody Mary specialists whip it up. Tada!

And let me tell you – it brings brunch to a whole new level. My brunch partner and I ordered a massive Bloody Mary meal topped with a mini cheeseburger (of course). Dont worry – it was 100 percent worth the calories, I can assure you.

Despite the fact that the bloody is certainly a meal in-and-of itself, I went ahead and tried Met’s french toast. For those who don’t know, the restaurant recently debuted a brand new brunch menu offering a mix of sweet and savory fare.

I tried both their Cap’t Crunch French Toast, laced with sweet cereal, and their unbelievable Nutella Stuffed French Toast. If you prefer a classic french toast with berries then the Cap’t Crunch option is for you. But if you want try something outside of the box, the Nutella dish is sure to smack you awake with some serious sugar.

Shaped like a giant donut, and topped with salted caramel sauce and caramelized bananas, you won’t be able to stop yourself from devouring this sweet Nutella stuffed toast. So be warned.

As for the savory side of the menu, my brunch partner ordered the California Hen House Hash, complete with chicken, roasted peppers, onions, queso blanco, avocado, and a fried egg on top. If you love mexican fajitas or enchiladas, I recommend ordering this savory brunch dish – you won’t regret it…

although you might regret not going to the gym after – just sayin’.
