For their F/W 2014 collections, designers ditched last season’s pretty pastel hues and instead turned to rich and attention-grabbing colors like burgundy and gold. But what will be the color of fall? Our fashion editor and fashion director each make a case for their favorite below.

Team Burgundy
“Oxblood dominated the runways for fall 2012, and its return has me wanting more. From wine-stained lips at Rebecca Minkoff to oversized sweaters and midi skirts at Nanette Lepore, I’m predicting burgundy will be the perfect complement to any ensemble.”
– Nicole A., Fashion Editor

Team Gold
“Okay, so gold never really went out of style, but I’m predicting that it will be everywhere for fall 2014. From the 24-karat embroidery at Naeem Khan to the pretty lace dresses at Diane von Furstenberg, it’s gold’s time to shine.”

So whose hue wins? We’ll have to wait another several months to see…
