UPDATE: CBS is reporting that the victims were ambushed and a vehicle barricaded the one way road leading to the residential complex. The suspect was armed with three rifles and a handgun, and was the United States Coast Guard. Both of the  women victims were also in the Coast Guard.

UPDATE: NECN is reporting that one of the women subjected to “violence” has died. It’s unclear what the cause is or what the condition of the other individual and police officer also injured are.

A Bourne, Mass. police officer was shot and wounded early Thursday morning. Authorities initially responded to a call at around 2:15 a.m.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, which is heading up the investigation, the incident also included “violence committed against two victims in a home” at a residential complex on Round House Road.

The MSP is not releasing details or the nature of the incident, nor the condition of the victims. No names have been released either. But a suspect, male, is in custody.

According to CBS Boston, the officer who was shot has been airlifted to a Rhode Island hospital though his condition remains undisclosed.

State Police Bomb Squad also responded to the scene to examine and remove what appeared to be ” items — suspected of being hoax devices — allegedly placed near the crime scene by the suspect.”

Neighbors have been ordered to remain in their homes during the investigation.

Bourne Police Sergeant Esip released the following statement on Facebook:

Police are actively investigating an incident in the area of Roundhouse Rd. For your own safety, we ask that you remain in your homes and not leave until advised to do so by police. Once again, if you live in the area of Roundhouse Rd, please do not leave your homes until advised it is safe to do so by police. We will provide updates once the area is secure. We also ask anyone else to remain away from the area.
