A new video recently surfaced calling into question the process in which Massachusetts residents have to undertake in order to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The Bay State, though, is exploring a report made by a state-commissioned committee which suggested that the commonwealth make its already strict gun laws even more stringent.

Posted by the website Reality Always Wins, the video outlines the convoluted steps one needs to take in order to purchase a firearm. The site, billing itself as one “Taking a rational look at the topics of today,” does not appear to have any strong partisan affiliations or political agenda, save for its pro-gun stance.  The latest video (see: below) will certainly be praised by die-hards who interpret the second amendment in the U.S. Constitution literally.

What’s arguably the video’s most resounding takeaway is that almost all of the dialogue is fact. For those who find the clip to be unfounded or mocking, the reality is the footage merely explains how the process works and sheds light on some frequently asked questions.

Though, the “Fair? You live in Massachusetts” quip could easily be construed as a bit callous.

In 2013 the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence ranked the Bay State sixth overall in terms of gun law strength, while gun ownership and gun-related deaths are similarly ranked amongst the lowest in the country making Massachusetts gun regulations some of the most domineering in the entire nation.

BostInno reached out to Reality Always Wins but have yet to receive a comment.

But what do you think? Does the video take the gun law debate too far? Is it a fair and accurate depiction of how complicated it can be to purchase a gun? What are your thoughts on firearm legislation in Massachusetts? Feel free to chime in with your thoughts in the comments section below.
