Big brother Ben may be having a moment with a box office hit in Gone Girl and an upcoming role as the next Batman, no big deal, but Casey Affleck is making recent headlines here in Boston. And if you’ve been following the hype, you’ll want to see the hometown actor in person when he hosts a Q&A at the Brattle Theater on Sunday, November 9.

The Brattle Theater will be screening 2007’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which stars Casey Affleck as Robert Ford alongside Brad Pitt’s Jesse James. According to the Brattle’s film description, Affleck’s performance as Ford steals the show in the modern Western, which “must be seen on the big screen in order to be fully appreciated.” Affleck will steal the show that evening, as well, as he’ll appear to answer questions before the screening.

It’s safe to assume that at least some of the evening’s inquiries will surround the recent word that Affleck will be producing and starring in the upcoming film ‘Boston Strong,’ based upon the book written about the events of the 2013 Boston marathon and its aftermath. While the book of the same name has yet to be completed, Hollywood screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy obtained the rights to the film in July, and earlier this month, Affleck signed on to the project as well.

‘Boston Strong’ is a long way from beginning production, but currently, Affleck has been working on ‘The Finest Hours,’ a film that focuses on a dangerous Coast Guard rescue mission off the shores of Cape Cod, also written by Johnson and Tamasy. The film also stars Chris Pine and Eric Bana, and is slated for a 2015 release.

Got something to ask Casey Affleck amidst all this excitement? Now’s your chance: tickets for the November 9 screening and Q&A are available for $12.
