I don’t know about you – but I’m A-Okay with taking a shot of that (above). The hotter, the better.

And there’s no better way to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year, than by taking one at the Red Lantern Restaurant and Lounge. Open late on weekend nights, this Asian-inspired Back Bay spot has plenty of good things happening after Midnight.

The Asian-inspired restaurant and lounge is complete with an open kitchen, hanging red lanterns, a sushi counter, a wok station and plenty of large, round dining tables. The ornate decor and sophisticated (yet fun) setting is truly the perfect place to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

And the perfect place to experience your first Flaming Plum Shot. For just $10, you can light up your night with the flaming libation. In addition to the tantalizing Flaming Plum Shots, the bar also serves up a long list of Tiki drinks and Asian cocktails (plenty of sake, of course).

You can accompany it with Red Lantern’s special Chinese New Year menu. Tonight, the kitchen will be serving up everything from Longevity Noodles, roast duck, a “Chinatown style” prime rib, and even wok cooked whole bass. Yum.

Red Lantern’s dining room is open Friday and Saturday until 1 a.m. and the bar/lounge will remain open until 2 a.m. this weekend. Which means it’s never too late to celebrate 2014.
