Admit it – you’re totally and completely addicted to caffeine. Join the club – we all are. But how else would Boston function on a daily basis without their Dunkin’ or Starbucks cup of Joe? I shudder at the thought.

Thanks to coffee, we somehow manage to wake up and get to work at a reasonable time. But that doesn’t mean our wallet hasn’t taken a hit. If you’re an avid coffee drinker like me, you may be surprised to know that a cup of Joe a day – whether made at-home or purchased – is costing you.

USA Today posted a coffee cost generator to help coffee consumers find out just how much their caffeine habit is adding up. All you have to do is choose whether you purchase coffee on a daily basis or make it at home – and include how many cups you inhale on the way to work.

For me, I tend to make my coffee at home – one cup daily. According to the cost generator, I’ll spend nearly $30 a year making coffee at home – but that’s not taking into account the days I do splurge for a Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Even though that doesn’t seem like a lot, it does add up.

Check out the coffee cost generator for yourself to see how much you’re spending on your daily cup of Joe.
