Live streaming from Comic-Con 2013 in San Diego, one of the more popular items to take the stage at the popular multi-genre exposition is the prop hammer from Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Starring Chris Hemsworth, The Dark World is set to be released on the silver screen on November 8, 2013.

One of the more popular comic book adaptations to make an appearance at Comic-Con, Thor and its upcoming sequel are big time money makers. The first installment in the series grossed upwards of $181,015,141 in the U.S. alone, showing just how much power comic book feature films carry at the box office.

Alan Taylor is on board to direct The Dark World and will pull some of the prowess he showcased from directing episodes of The Sopranos, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, and Game of Thrones to make the big-budget film a smash hit. Thor boasted a budget of $15o million and judging from its international success, The Dark World will have one just as large, if not larger.

Hemsworth is back as the hammer weielding Norse God and titular protagonist as he sets off on a quest to protect Jane Foster, played by Academy Award winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan) after she’s  targeted by the denizens of the dark world of Svartalfheim.

The cast is further burgeoned by the likes of Idris Elda (Pacific Rim), Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), and Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls). Naturally, Hemsworth and Portman will provide the star power while the sure-fired special effects will be equally alluring.
