Fashion Project was launched in an effort to streamline clothing donations for the Internet age, but for those who like to get rid of their used items the old fashioned way, listen up.

The local organization for online donations has partnered with Copley Place for a two-week clothing purge. Mall shoppers will have the chance to fill up the Fashion Project’s donation bags with their used and gently worn items (in new or great condition), including clothes, shoes and accessories from qualifying brands, and return them to the mall between October 27 and November 10.

Donation bags will then be sorted at the Fashion Project’s Fort Point headquarters, where items will be sold online, with 55 percent of the proceeds going to the donor’s charity of choice, like Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, The Greater Boston Food Bank and more. The Fashion Project, founded in Boston in 2012, has supported over 1,000 nonprofit organizations since its inception, as well as helped brands like Joie, Milly and Helmut power their own donation programs.

For supporting the stem of annual clothing waste, donors will receive a $20 gift card to use at any Simon Mall for every five items of clothing they bring in. There’s no limit either, so be sure to bring the big haul: 10 items gets you $40, and so on.

So if you’re sitting atop a bevy of like-new clothes and looking to make some room in your closet, you might as well donate to charity and score gift cards all in one go.
