One word to describe the Pan Asian tapas restaurant, Moksa, would be: creative. As my eyes grazed the extensive menu filled with sushi, dumplings, rice and noodles (oh my!) – it was immediately obvious that this restaurant knew how to serve up an innovative dish.

But Moksa doesn’t stop with the dishes. No, in case you haven’t heard, the Cambridge restaurant also serves up a variety of creative events which have included (among others), “Bocce, Beer & Board games” and an “Outdoor Snow Dinner.” And just as their games and events imply, the Central Square restaurant is indeed fun – and so are their dishes.

For starters, I decided to try one of their sushi rolls – appropriately named – the “Nom Nom Roll” (pictured above). Personally, I’m very picky when it comes to sushi – or any raw fish for that matter – but this vegetarian-friendly Nom Nom roll was perfection. Wrapped up with tempura sweet potato, cream cheese and cucumber, and topped with fresh mango, avocado and a Sriracha vinaigrette, it was heaven in my mouth.

My dinner partner and I also chose to indulge in a few of the Char Sui Pork Steambuns (below) – one of my all-time favorite foods from my time spent studying abroad in Asia. The succulent dish was both sweet and savory – yet we still had room for more.

So we decided to follow up the steambuns and sushi with the Wok Sauteed Eggplant – served with basil, red and yellow bell peppers. As you can see from the picture, the eggplant dish was doused in spice but the sweet peppers cut through the spice – making this veggie dish pretty addictive.

But we saved the best for last with the Spicy Tuna Dumplings. These dumplings were unlike any I’ve seen. Lightly fried, stuffed with spicy tuna and topped with guacamole and a Thai mango chili sauce. The combination of sweet and spicy continued to play out well with this dish – and I have a feeling I’ll definitely be back for more.

Nom nom, y’all!
