After days of uncertainty, the Celtics may have finally reached a deal to move coach Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a first round pick in 2015, ESPNBoston.com’s Jackie McMullan reports.

MacMullan’s sources confirm Rivers will sign a three-year, $21 million with the Clippers. Her sources believe Doc Rivers’ signing will secure Chris Paul for a five-year max contract at some point in July. Paul becomes an unrestricted free agent July.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge had been trying to shop Paul Pierce as well, according to ESPN’s sources, and has been unsuccessful so far. Pierce can be bought out by June 30 for $5 million.

Rivers led the Celtics to its seventeeth NBA Championship in 2008. In 2011, amidst rumors of his retirement, Rivers signed a 5-year contract extension worth $35 million. In February, Rivers recorded his 400th win with the Celtics in a 99-95 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
