DraftKings, the Boston-based daily fantasy juggernaut, continued to solidify its hold on one of sports’ best markets on Thursday, announcing a new dimension to its existing partnership with Major League Baseball. The multi-year deal, which builds on top of the fantasy site’s exclusive tie to baseball, further cements DraftKings in the baseball market. Perhaps not by coincidence, baseball is one of the site’s fastest growing sports in terms of users, increasing more by more than eight times in the past year.

“Two years ago, MLB and DraftKings signed the first league deal in daily fantasy history, and we are excited to deepen that ground-breaking relationship through this new, league wide, exclusive partnership,” Jason Robins, CEO and co-founder of DraftKings explained in a release. “MLB has long been at the forefront of embracing new technologies to create superior fan experiences, and DraftKings couldn’t be happier to partner to continue that tradition of innovation.”

The new aspects of the deal include a much greater promotion of DraftKings across all aspects of MLB media (like MLB.com and MLB TV). Fans can also win team-specific “in-ballpark experiences.” This meshes with the notable statistic (provided by DraftKings) that MLB fans are 35 percent more likely to play fantasy sports with players from their hometown team.

DraftKings is now baseball’s “Official Daily Fantasy Game,” a distinction that will ensure increased attention and continued user expansion.
