Over the weekend, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker made a speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit. The governor is almost a shoo-in as a Republican nominee for the 2016 presidential race. He’s also responsible for the state budget plan that sparked protests from Wisconsin unions, a political issue that spurred the Dropkick Murphy’s song “Take Em Down.”

So, it’s no surprise that the band wasn’t thrilled when Governor Walker used “Shipping Up to Boston” as his intro music before his speech at the Summit on Saturday.

Maybe Walker should take the hint? The Dropkick Murphys haven’t exactly been subtle about their feelings. They’ve also sold T shirts around the time of Walker’s budget plans, the proceeds of which were donated to the Workers’ Rights Emergency Response Fund.

And Walker could have seen this wrath coming. In 2012, the band sent a similar message to Wisconsin State Representative Jeff Fitzgerald for using “Shipping Up to Boston” as his intro music during the Wisconsin GOP Convention.

The better question is, why do Wisconsin politicians get so pumped up by a song about Boston?
