Irish punk rock band The Dropkick Murphys just got approved by the city to rock Fenway Park this September 8th and 9th with special guests the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (also from the area). Tickets go on sale July 7th at noon and can be purchased here.

The music of the Dropkick Murphys, who hail from Quincy, has long been a part of Red Sox nation, most notably for signaling Jonathan Papelbon’s trip to the mound and fueling the 2007 World Series rallies. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones started their career here in Boston all the way back in 1984.

Our involvement in the 2004 and 2007 championship seasons are some of the greatest highlights of our careers and our lives.” said Ken Casey, bassist of the Dropkick Murphys.

Bringing two Boston bands to Fenway right as the baseball playoff race heats up will surely bring a lot of excitement to the city. Also, a portion of the proceeds will be given to the Massachusetts 9/11 fund, so not only will it be a good time, it’ll be for a good cause.
