Once again, a study has proved what we already knew: Dunkin’ Donuts reigns supreme in Boston. But that iced Dunkin’ doesn’t just rule our caffeinated mornings – it rules our wallets as well.

Today, Eater revealed information from loan company Earnest, which looked at data from over 350,000 credit card transactions in five major cities – Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago – to see where residents bought their coffee.

The results showed that Boston really does love their Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. In fact, we seem to love coffee, in general, more than any of the other four major cities. The article reports that we, Bostonians, invest the largest percentage of the total amount we spend to coffee shops.

And most of that money spent goes to Dunkin’ Donuts.

According to the data, five percent of all credit card transactions in Boston go to coffee shops, in general, and 49 percent of those are at Dunkin’ Donuts compared with the 40 percent that go for Starbucks.

And now that Dunkin’ Donuts has begun their plan to take over the West Coast, we could see Dunkin’ dominating the rest of America’s bank accounts as well. To see how other cities take their coffee and for a more in-depth look at the results, check here.
