This April, America is running on ice cream flavored Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffees. And by running, I mean sprinting – given the coffees’ dessert-like sweet taste.

The beloved coffee chain has partnered with Baskin Robbins to create flavored iced coffees inspired by the brand’s popular ice cream offerings, And they’ll be passing out free samples of the coffee throughout the month of April in their “old-fashioned ice cream truck,” according to a release. The truck will tour select cities (including Boston, obviously) to give Dunkin’ lovers a sip of summer in their coffees.

The sampling vehicle is planning to stop in Kenmore Square tomorrow, April 23 from 4p.m. to 7:30p.m. The sample flavored coffees will include: cookie dough, Jamoca almond fudge, butter pecan and mint chocolate chip.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get our hands on the butter pecan flavor (our nearby Dunkin’ Donuts was out) but we’ve taken the liberty of trying the other three flavors for you. And after slipping into and recovering from an iced coffee sugar coma, we’ve got the scoop on these ice cream flavored coffees.

Mint Chocolate Chip

The coffee flavor tastes as you’d expect – like mint chocolate chip ice cream – but had a sickeningly sweet aftertaste that I couldn’t handle. Overall, the flavor received pretty neutral feedback. It was described as the “least jarring” of the flavors by BostInno’s managing editor, Alex Weaver. It’s certainly plenty minty – if you’re into that sort of thing. Associate editor, Lauren Landry, put it best by stating that she’d “rather just eat ice cream.” Same.

Cookie Dough

You’ll either love it or hate it. This iced coffee flavor is sure to jolt you awake – but that could just be the sugar. Personally, I thought the flavor was the most drinkable – who can say no to cookie dough? But others didn’t agree. BostInno’s staff writer, Hayden Bird, claimed he’d had “unleaded gasoline that tasted better.” Ouch. But Alex agreed with me, stating that “cookie dough wins because it’s the subtlest flavor profile of the three and also the best ice-cream flavor.”

Jamoca Almond Fudge

I’m sorry but what exactly is “Jamoca”? The coffee flavor had a thick fudge syrupy taste. The flavor received pretty negative feedback. “One sip in and I was loudly letting out, ‘EW, this tastes terrible’” claimed Lauren. Hayden also agreed, stating that there weren’t “too many redeemable attributes,” but he added, “any time I have a drink whose name could double as an SNL character, there’s something to it.”

To sum it up in the words of Alex Weaver – “Jamoca isn’t a word, so jamoca loses.”

There you have it, folks! We recommend leaving the Baskin Robbins ice cream flavors for … you know … actual ice cream. Unless it’s free, of course (like tomorrow’s coffees at Kenmore Sq.).
