U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to decide this week if the death penalty should be sought for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

CNN reports Holder told lawmakers Wednesday he’ll decide by Friday if Tsarnaev will face the death penalty in federal court if convicted.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan are accused of placing two pressure cooker bombs along Boylston St., near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, on April 15, 2013. The bombs exploded, killing three and injuring more than 260 others.

MIT police officer Sean Collier was killed prior to the infamous Watertown shootout. Tamerlan was later killed during the gunfight.

Holder’s comments were heard during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting early Wednesday.

Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to 30 federal counts related to the bombings.
