UPDATE: Plead not guilty to assault charges. Held on $3 million bail.

Edwin Alemany will face an arraignment today on charges of assaulting two women as well as murdering 24-year old Amy Lord for which he’ll be in court for a separate arraignment tomorrow. Alemany has been held at Bridgewater State Hospital for a 20-day mental evaluation which has concluded though has not been released to the public.

According to WCVB, though, “Earlier this month, Jeffrey Nathan, an attorney hired by Alemany’s parents said his client was, ‘cuckoo.'”

Today Alemany, 28, faces charges of assault, one notable case of which the victim was able to get her hands on Alemany’s wallet and identification before passing out due to suffocation. It came to light that former detective Jerome Hall-Brewster did not follow up with Alemany regarding the 2012 autumn attacks along with taking series of other missteps, resulting in his demotion from detective by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

Alemany’s arraignment this afternoon is to take place at South Boston District Court.

Tomorrow Alemany will be in West Roxbury District Court facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of Amy Lord. Around 5 a.m. on Tuesday July 23rd, Lord was allegedly kidnapped in South Boston on her way to the gym, after which her bank account was accessed from five different ATMs in the area. She was then allegedly stabbed to death, and her body was found later on Tuesday afternoon in Hyde Park’s Stony Brook Reservation.

Almost a week ago, Amy’s family published a letter thanking the South Boston community for their continued support during their time of grieving as well as how loving of a person Amy was.

Amy was a South Boston resident and Wilbraham, MA. native. She graduated from Bentley University in 2011 and worked at Genuine Interactive, a creative agency in Boston before her untimely passing.
