In my Valentine’s Day opinion, chocolate beats flowers every time. Sure, flowers are beautiful – but there’s nothing like a box of assorted chocolates. From milk chocolates filled with ganache to dark chocolate with mouse – choosing that first bite is a tough one. But now, choosing your Valentine’s Day chocolatier isn’t.

Last week, Fodors recognized Boston-area chocolate shop, EHChocolatier, as one “America’s Best Chocolate Shops.” The Somerville shop, owned by chocolatiers Elaine Hsieh and Catharine Sweeney, create some of the most beautiful (and delicious) handmade chocolate and bonbons you’ll see anywhere.

According to Fodors, the two owners met “while baking a wedding cake for the friend, and opened the doors of EHChocolatier nearly 10 years later.”

Other notable chocolate shops topping Fodor’s list included, Vosges Haut-Chocolat in Chicago, Jacques Torres Chocolate shop in New York City, and Mast Brothers in Brooklyn, NY.

As for your Valentine’s Day needs – it’s not too late to order decadent chocolates from the local EHChocolatier shop. According to the store, you can order online and pickup at EHChocolatier’s Kitchen (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in Somerville through this Wednesday, February 12.
