Remember that time we told you to “breathe a sigh of relief” because Figs in Beacon Hill had actually reopened after closing temporarily for “renovations”?

Well, we take it back.

Just a little over a month after this miraculous reopening, the popular Todd English restaurant has once again closed temporarily – although this time, we fear the worst. Universal Hub reported last night that, per this Twitter photo (below), Figs in Beacon Hill is now “closed temporarily” again, and directing customers to place delivery orders through the Charlestown Figs location.

Boston Restaurant Talk also reported that this post tweeted last night “indicated that Todd English’s Figs on Charles Street was looking ‘rather empty’” as well.

We aren’t sure if Figs in Beacon Hill will reopen but this potential long-term closure could be (as Universal Hub states) just another sign of Chef Todd English’s “rapidly shrinking Boston empire.” And it’s also just another cherry on top of a long (and very bad) week for the celebrity chef. English was arrested this past Labor Day weekend for “driving while intoxicated,” according to the Huffington Post.

Boston Restaurant Talk also notes that several of Todd English’s Boston restaurants have shuttered over the past few years “including Bonfire in Park Plaza, Kingfish in Faneuil Hall and Olives in Charlestown.”
